About khakidoggy
Alex Vance, editor-in-chief of Bad Dog Books.

I'm a firm supporter of furry fiction. Due to nerve damage in my fingers I can't write like I used to, but through BDB, and with the help of my staunch and tireless editors, I'm still doing everything I can to enhance the prominence (and profitability!) of furry fiction.

Recently I've started a new comic, partnered with the talented illustrator Ayato and spectacular colorist Distasty. Visit www.heathencity.com for more information!

It took the aunt of one friend, the mother of another, and now Steve Jobs.

Bad Dog Books will donate half its earnings for the last quarter to cancer research and care, and I'm adding half my royalties for Heathen City over the same period to sweeten the deal.

Fuck cancer.

I've only read the first three chapters of maranatha And i must ask... Do you ever regret that you weren't able to finish it?
khakidoggy 2 years ago
Yeah, absolutely. However, I'm glad I could take the characters and locations further in Heathen City :)

Wow, you responded already? It's like 4:30 AM here, XD. I keep strange hours so it always surprises me when i get a quick response.

Well, I'm glad, and once I finish reading your stories, I may have to get my hands on Heathen City to find out what happened.

Although, I think I'll always be the sort who prefers to read a story over a comic. *chuckles* you know, the sort who will always hold out the hope that one day you'll come back to Maranatha. But I'm strange like that, and I'm glad that you found a way to keep writing, Even if it took you elsewhere.

It's nearly noon here :)
Heathen City is a very different beast than Maranatha was, there's a long chronological gap with significant events in the interim, so it really was written more for readers who haven't encountered Maranatha before. Even so, there's plenty of references to that City, and it's through these little glimpses that I try to offer a bit of closure for people who appreciated the series.

It's always refreshing to run into a writer that Cares about what he/she writes like that. As well as caring about the people who read it.

Enough to try and offer some closure even if not a proper end. Ive seen too many series go cold, With naught but a scant few words as to why, no finale, no Closure, no end. Heroes forever in peril, Innocents eternally lost to the winds of time. It really is an awful way to end something in my eyes.

So that you even care enough to "Try" and reveal a bit of what was lost due to your health complications, Is a very admirable and Endearing quality. :)

Well, there are those who might call it an unhealthy obsession -- but let's go with your explanation, huh? Sounds much cooler :)
